Matt joined FactRight in 2025 with a primary focus on Sponsor Diligence, Private Real Estate programs, and Tax Advantaged Programs.
Matt entered the independent broker dealer industry in 2012 conducting Diligence on alternative investments for Berthel Fisher and most recently at SFA Partners. He has experience conducting diligence on a full range of alternative investments such as REITs, BDCs, Private Placements, and DSTs, among many others. Matt has worked in the nonprofit fields, the Commercial Mortgage department of a large insurance lender and at a large telecom company. Matt was part of the inaugural IPA Rising Leaders group.
Matt is routinely asked to participate in industry panels and in industry webinars with ADISA, IPA, Blue Vault and many others. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses, as well as his insurance licenses.

As the DST market has grown over the past several years, the nuances of available programs have proliferated. Given the structural requirements of Revenue Ruling 2004-86, these programs do not behave like traditional real estate investments in certain respects. In our experience working with wealth advisory firms seeking 1031 solutions for their clients, understanding the differences among master lease structures in the market can be a common hurdle. Closely related is how a particular structure may behave differently in various performance scenarios, and how the property underwriting interacts with that structure.
